We are a group of writers who enjoy imaginative, perhaps even offbeat, fiction. Our goal is to write well--or at least better--but with the freedom to make mistakes. We are not here to necessarily produce polished, publishable fiction, but to rather to carve out a space where writers can experiment and have fun in a relaxed and supportive environment. Speculative fiction--which includes science fiction, supernatural horror, steampunk, dystopian fiction, magical realism, fantastic allegory, and …

This group fosters the development of local authors' work through honest but fair criticism; to provide encouragement and inspiration to those authors as they write and submit their work for publication; and to provide a support network for those authors. Based on the writing workshop model, we will meet at a cozy spot to discuss and dissect some great contemporary short stories by published authors. We’ll talk about what makes the story tick: what’s working, what isn’t, and what we can learn (or steal) for our own writing practice. Then we’ll drink a beer or a coffee or something, and have a few laughs. Join us if you're a fan of the genre or if you want to get caught up on the latest fiction, or if you're a writer yourself and want to learn fr …
